-Fluently adding and subtracting within 20 using mental strategies
-Using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems with unknowns in all positions

-Revising and editing through the use of mentor texts, peer editing, and conferences

-Understanding properties of solids and liquids and the changes they undergo
-Giving examples of matter that change from a solid to a liquid and from a liquid to a solid by heating and cooling
-Comparing the amount (volume and weight) of water in a container before and after freezing
-Comparing what happens to water left in an open container over time as to water left in a closed container

-Understanding rules and responsibilities of a citizen.
-Explaining why it is important for citizens to participate in their community.
-Identifying types of services in the government and how they serve the community

Words Their Way
-Students will be given words that match their specific spelling needs. This will be determined by a spelling inventory. Students will work with one set of words for 1 week before having a spelling test.
